How oil filters work

An oil filter is a device used to remove impurities and contaminants from engine oil. It is usually composed of filter element, filter material,housing and seal. The oil filter works as follows:

1. Oil into the filter: When the engine is running, the lubricating oil is pumped into the housing of the oil filter.

2. The function of the filter element: the oil passes through the filter element, and its structure is made of cellulose fiber, chemical fiber, ceramic membrane and other materials. The filter element will block solid particles, metal chips, sand and other impurities in the oil to ensure the purity of the oil.

3. Oil outflow: The oil filtered by the filter element flows out of the oil filter and enters the engine lubrication system to continue to provide clean lubricating oil for the engine.

4. Optimize the oil circuit: the oil filter can also be designed through different structures, and the safety valve, return valve and other devices can be set in different positions to ensure that the oil circuit is still working normally in the case of abnormal conditions, and further improve the safety of the engine.

In general, the oil filter intercepts impurities and pollutants in the lubricating oil through the filtration effect of the filter element, only allowing clean oil to enter the engine, protecting the normal operation of the engine, and extending the service life of the engine.
